Is living conditions expensive in Australia?

My name is George,
I am an Australian. I have a degree in TESOL plus CELTA and also 10 years of ESL overseas experience. Can someone out there tell me what are the living expenses in Melbourne?
What would be the chances of me getting a part-time job with my type of experience and qualifications? It is very important and urgent that I get a quick response to my post because I am leaving for Australia in two more weeks.
Thanks a lot for any replies!
George

Rentals in Australia are usually advertised with a weekly rate but usually you pay at least 4 weeks or more at a time and a bond of about 4 weeks rent. There are serviced furnished apartments that are available on a week basis so you might want to look into that.
Also keep in mind when looking for a cheap or expensive apartment it all depends on the location and area you plan to live meaning if you choose to live closer to the city you will pay about $1000 to $2000 a month for a small place.
If you decide to live further out, you will get a much better apartment for less money. You have to pay a bond of 1 month’s rent plus you will have to sign a 6 months or 1 year lease. If you break the lease early you better be prepared to be charged.
As for work You should have no problem getting a part-time job with the type of experience and qualifications you have. Good luck in your search.
